SC WORKS ~ Bringing Employers and Job Seekers Together

The Cherokee County office of SC Works hosted a meeting with the new Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Pam Foxx. Lynn Hall, Center Manager, and the staff spoke with Pam about the many programs and opportunities available through their offices.

SC Works is South Carolina’s largest and most comprehensive labor exchange system. It is part of the national one-stop initiative that was established to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of our nation’s economy.

Legislative Luncheon on January 14th at Limestone College

The Chamber of Commerce will host a Legislative Luncheon on Monday, January 14th, 2013. This event will be in Stephenson Dining Hall on the campus of Limestone College. You are invited to join our state legislators and share your thoughts and concerns during this luncheon and panel discussion.

Chamber Selects Cherokee County Native As New Executive Director

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously voted to select Cherokee County native Pam Foxx to replace retiring Executive Director Kayla Robbs.

Foxx brings to the Chamber a background of marketing, corporate communications, event planning, finance and leadership.  In addition to her business acumen, she has a passion for education also having worked and volunteered in academia.   Recently, she has served on several Greensboro, NC Chamber of Commerce committees, participated in a range of Chamber activities and helped manage their annual Chamber Trade Show.

Ms. Foxx was raised in Cherokee County and is a graduate of Gaffney High School.  She received a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Limestone College.  “My husband and I have actively searched for opportunities to return to Cherokee County where my family still lives,” stated Foxx.  “We are excited to return to my home county and be an active part of this wonderful community.”

“We believe Pam will be a great asset to our Chamber and to Cherokee County as we continue working for our businesses and community,” stated Chamber President Ed Elliott.  “Having grown up here, Pam knows just how special our area is.  Her appreciation of this county and her business background bode well for our Chamber’s future.”

Foxx will began her duties at the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce on December 17.
